I am currently in the middle of my training course and I have to correct some sentences. They had to be authentic mistakes that I observed a student making in a class.

How would you correct this one.

"I learnt English at school, so normally lessons but not specially courses at college."

    Hi domino

Do you think, from the context of what he/she was saying, the student wanted to say the following?

"I learnt English at school, so normal lessons but not special courses at college."

If so, you’ll need to think in terms of the different parts of speech (verb, noun, adjective, adverb, pronoun, etc.) Which part of speech is normal and which is normally (or special and specially)? Why is one correct and one incorrect in this sentence?

    Hope that helps.

    It does, thanks.

I also think the ‘so’ should be ‘just’.

Anyway I confess I chose easier examples for my assignment.
