    Hi

First of all, don’t worry – thousands of people with no experience of teaching, from all sorts of different backgrounds and with all sorts of different motivations take a TEFL qualification each year and succeed. So there’s no reason why you shouldn’t succeed too. Having sasid that, some people start a course and then find that it’s not for them – as with any course in any profession.

In terms of the difficulty, it really depends on which course you take. I would say that a good course should be, if not dificult, at least challenging – and this is where motivation comes in. If you are motivated and willing to work hard, then you should be fine. You will get out of the course as much as you are prepared to put in.

I’m talking here about 4-6 week classroom based courses such as the CELTA, Trinity Cert TESOL and many equivalent or semi-equivalent courses on offer. Some shorter or online courses may not present the same level of challenge.

Hope that helps – is there anything specifically about the course that you’re concerned about?

Thank-you for the reply Dan, the course is TEFOL and it is 120 hours, it is at the city college. I will be asking questions, no doubt, this web site is extremely helpful :)

Remember also that most jobs require a degree as well as the TEFL course. You may be able to find TEFL work without a degree but it isn’t as easy and there are less opportunities.
