I’m researching what would be my best paying and easiest option in getting jobs – get a CELTA certificate or a M.A. in TESOL. I already have a M.S. Accounting and not sure if I want to sit through another Masters’ program, but not sure if a certificate will be the better choice.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks for your input

A CELTA is the quicker, easier (and probably cheaper) choice. It will open up a very wide range of employment options for you. Yes, an MA in TESOL may open up a few more doors, but possibly not until you’ve also got some experience under your belt anyway.

The best thing to do is think about where you want to teach, and have a look at the jobs on offer in those countries. You’ll find that very few require an MA, but if those are the countries where you want to teach, then it’s worth considering.

    Hope that helps.
