I recently completed the 4-week CELTA course (which, I may add, is every bit as intensive as everyone makes out). The reason I did the course is because I am planning to travel in Africa and hopefully do some voluntary teaching. Now, I will be pretty much living out of a rucksack, and the pile of books I bought for the course is not going to fit into it, so having read and digested them I am willing to sell them for half price to some other budding teacher.
    The list comprises:
Practical English Usage (3rd Edition) by Michael Swan
English Grammar In Use by Raymond Murphy
    Teaching Tenses by Rosemary Aitken
A Concise Grammar for English Language Teachers by Tony Penston
How to Teach English by Jeremy Harmer
Concept Questions and Time Lines by Graham Workman
(The last one wasn’t on the list when I did the course, but believe me CCQs are heavily emphasised on the course and you will be the envy or your fellow students if you have this book).
Get in touch if you’re interested.
    Dave

    Hi,
I am keen to purchase a few of your books for my upcoming TESOL course, can you send me prices for English Grammar in use, Teaching Tenses, The Practice of English Language Teaching and Practical English Usage?
    Thanks,

I really want to sell the complete set if possible. At £60+p/p for all six you’d be getting a bargain – the Workman book in particular is really worth having.

    Hi Dave

Saw your note on the books and I’m keen on buying them as I’m starting the Celta course in October …. thank goodness not the intesive one – part time one will suit me.

But £60 on top of postage is a lot for me …. perhaps just before you leave for Africa !!! Or – where are you based. No harm in asking – you never know, you may just be around the corner, in which case I’ll pop and collect them.

Where are you going in Africa? I’m from SA and have travelled a lot around southern Africa – and I’m sure you are going to have a totally brilliant time.

I looked up the cost of just the Concept Questions and Time Lines by Graham Workman on Amazon and even for 2nd hand copies the price was £25 odd – so I know it’s a good deal … just don’t have the dosh! However – definately very keen, and might find it …. any ideas on postage costs?

Thanks for sharing – I believe all books should go to a good home!
