I am an undergraduate American student taking graduate EDU classes towards a TEFL certification. I am only one course in, so far, but am very interested in getting experience teaching as soon as possible. Next semester I am studying abroad in Vienna, Austria through my university and am hoping to teach English there, either tutoring for pay or volunteering. I am a tutor at my university’s writing centre, so I am already experienced working with students, but was wondering if anyone who has taught/worked in Austria might have any tips or insight for me. Are there institutes that hire Americans to teach English or tutor Austrian students? Are these positions mostly volunteer positions or are there any that would include pay? Since I am a student, a paying job is ideal, but as I said, I would simply love experience working with students abroad, so pay is not necessary! I would love any advice!

Hello, my partner and I do English project weeks in Austrian schools, some weeks we are in need of English teachers depending on the number of students in the program. It is a paid position. If you are interested in the job let me know and I will explain it more in detail to you. I am also American, I teach English and coach basketball in Austria.

Thank you for responding and offering such an opportunity! I will be in Vienna from January 11 until May 20. I would absolutely love to help out. How about I reach out to you when I get there?
Thanks again, looking forward to working with you!
