    Hello,

I recently did Part 1, 20 hour week course and got my certificate.
I do not want to do the online course as it’s not my preferred way of learning.
I had planned on doing a second weekend course to complete part 2 – with UK-TEFL, who offer this as an alternative to the online course.
Having read some of the forums, I am now wondering if my 20 Certificate is sufficient, or do employers take note of the hours or just require a TEFL Certificate.
Once I’ve tried TEFL and seen if it is for me, I could then expand further.

    Thanks for all feedback.

Hi – it depends a bit on where you’re thinking of teaching. Do you have ideas already?

Thanks so much for your reply.
I’m keeping it flexible at the moment, but it will ideally be a European City.
Am starting my search with maybe Spain or Italy, and then maybe central Europe.
For a start I would like a short term placement, for a few months, which I know limits me a lot, so for now I’m just looking to see what’s out there.

I’d be happy to do part two of a course, but if it’s not really required I’d rather wait to see how I get on first.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again.

I think you’ll find that you’re quite limited with just a 20 hour course. A few schools will accept it, most probably won’t. So if you already have the limitation of needing just a short-term placement, I personally wouldn’t add to that limitation further by not doing part 2 of the course.

    Hope that helps.
