Aim To practise the present perfect tense.
Activity Students play a game, making TRUE or FALSE answers to “Have you ever…?” questions.
Organisation Group work and whole class.
Preparation Make enough copies of the activity for the number of students in your class.
What do I do?
  1. Divide students into two teams and hand out the activity.
  2. Students write their answers to the questions individually.
  3. In their teams, students think of one false but believable answer for each question. This false answer replaces one of the real answers.
  4. Team A asks the first question to team B. Each student in team B gives their answer.
  5. Team A tries to guess which student is lying! If they are correct they get one point. If they are incorrect team B gets a point.
  6. Now it’s team B’s turn to ask the first question to team A.
  7. Repeat steps 4, 5 and 6 until all the questions have been asked. The team with the most points is the winner.
