THE LANGUAGE CAFE is an accomplished immersion language school in the Savoy region of the French Alps. We offer dynamic French language courses, English language courses and combined language / sports or cultural activity courses for children, teenagers and adults.
Our teaching method involves studying the language and its structure, in small groups, and then putting it into practise through dialogues, games, role-plays and by working with authentic materials such as newspapers, television, maps, brochures and objects used in everyday life. Our immersion courses plunge you into an inspiring real-life experience where you will progress quickly as you will only hear and speak your chosen language for a week in your host family’s or teacher’s home.

1. Intensive immersion course
There are 30 hours of language lessons and 40 hours of conversation during meals and relaxation time in this course.
. Morning lessons from 9am to midday focus on grammar, vocabulary and syntax
Afternoon lessons from 2pm to 5pm focus on putting the rules learnt during the morning into use during real-life situations, role-playing, debates and language games
With accommodation: 750€
Without accommodation: 350€

2. Half-day immersion course
There are 15 hours of language lessons and 40 hours of conversation during meals and relaxation time in this course. Language lessons are from 9am to midday.
Afternoons are free for you to:
Discover our magnificent region,
Take part in a sporting activity
Visit one or more of the many cultural sites in the Maurienne valley
Rest and relax
With accommodation: 600€
Without accommodation: 200€

3. Half-day cultural immersion course
There are 15 hours of language lessons and 40 hours of conversation during meals and relaxation time. There are a further 12 hours of cultural visits in your target language in this course. Language lessons are from 9am to midday.
Visit to the Esseillon fortresses
Visit to the Baroque chapels and churches
Visit to museums such as the Opinel museum
Visit to the St André flour mills
Visit to the Vanoise National Park
With accommodation: 850€
Without accommodation: 450€

4. Half-day sports immersion course
There are 15 hours of language lessons and 40 hours of conversation during meals and relaxation time. There are a further 12 hours of sporting activities in your target language in this course. Language lessons are from 9am to midday.
With regards to the season and the weather, you may choose from:
Skiing, snowboarding
Snow-shoe touring
Rock-climbing, via ferrata
Hiking

Our courses include accommodation with your teacher or host family but you do have the possibility of lodging elsewhere. Please contact us and we will provide you with addresses of rural self-catering cottages, bed and breakfast accommodation or holiday flats. Our courses are organised, the whole year round, according to the request of the learner, the course calendar, the season and the level of the learners. All one-week courses are carried out over five days from Monday to Friday. Learners may arrive on Sunday afternoon and leave on Saturday morning. Lessons are from 9am to midday with lunch included. From 2pm to 6pm on Wednesdays is free-time in every course (children and teenagers will be supervised during this time).
