Aim: To revise and reinforce the difference between conditional structures

Activity
Students categorize sentences into groups according to their structure.
Organization
Pairwork.
Preparation
Make enough copies of the worksheet for the number of students in your class.
What do I do?
1 Divide students into pairs.
2 Ask pairs to divide the sentences into three groups.
They can do this whichever way they think is best - see if they can remember the different forms.
3 Feedback as a class, highlighting the different conditional forms.

Put the following sentences into three groups, A, B and C
1 If I don’t call my parents, they’ll worry about me.
2 If I won the lottery, I’d buy everyone in the class a new car!
3 If I weren’t so busy, I’d play more sport.
4 If you’d caught the 8:00 bus, you wouldn’t have been late.
5 You can have some ice cream if you’re good.
6 I could have won if I hadn’t been so tired.
7 If you eat out tonight, where will you go?
8 If you had driven more slowly, you wouldn’t have got caught.
9 I’ll finish my book if it rains this weekend.
10 He could get a better job if he was more qualified.
