The Pink Pig Who Didn't Like Pink

Posted by Jacqueline Richards

Language point: using colour

Although he was pink, the pink pig didn't like pink. "Pink stinks !. I think", he exclaimed, as he looked for other colours one day that would help him look a different way. The colour of his skin wasn't that good a colour to be in ... perhaps he should change his pink skin for a fin, like a fish ... to get rid of his pink was his one and only real wish. He thought pink was really no good, so he jumped in a puddle to cover himself with mud. Now he looked more like a hippopotamus. The pink pig didn't think to change his colour would take such of a fuss. When the pink pig blushed, his face became red ... he thought that was probably a better colour instead. When the Sun started to shine, his colour changed to wine. It was in this colour that he felt the most fine. Then the weather suddenly turned a bit cold, the pig picked a colour that was decidedly more bold - gold. When the rain poured down the pig turned a funny shade of blue and when the Sun came out again, he suddenly changed his hue. Now he was yellow - he looked quite a jaundiced fellow. The pink pig decided that perhaps orange would be better ... if he wanted to be seen more and be a little less wetter. That suited the pig, whose hair dye now matched the sky ... no - one could see if the pig went flying by. After a while, he was sick of blue, too and decided to tattoo himself another colour, new. Green. He was the greenest pig that the farm had ever seen. Though now his new colour made him look more like a scout, the pink pig was absolutely left in no doubt, that to be a green pig, would give him more clout. But the other animals thought it was mold and to change his colour was what they told. The pink pig, still didn't like his pink skin ... and decided to see if another colour would win. When day turned to night ... and the world became dark, the pink pig decided to choose a colour more stark. Black. Although it wasn't that easy to tell what type of animal he was and if he was well ... the pink pig now looked more criss cross than a zebra, more dotty than a ladybird, with more patches than a tiger. Very soon, he was multi - coloured ... he had stripes and spots, here and there, with splashes of pink everywhere.
