Language point: Prepositions
This turns the usual description of a room using prepositions around so that the students actually draw the room as you describe it.
Before class draw a simple room with furniture and other objects in it but do not show the students. Describe the room to the students and for each sentence they have to add the objects to the room in the correct place.
For example: In this room there is a coffee table - they draw the coffee table. There is a telephone on the coffee table - they add the telephone. Under the coffee table there are some magazines - they add the magazines. Behind the coffee table there is a window - they add the window. Continue to build up the picture using prepositions.
When the picture is complete students can compare pictures with each other and with your own picture. You can also get a volunteer to draw their picture on the board and see if everyone has the same.
