What is a language exchange? [Back to top]
It's a language trade - you help someone learn your language, and they
help you learn their language.
How does it work? [Back to top]
It's easy! You search for language exchange partners, and contact them by Skype or by email.
Then it's up to you! You can exchange emails in both your languages, or you can chat through Skype for half the
time in your language, half the time in your partner's.
Which languages can I practise? [Back to top]
You can practise any language. Our members are currently practising 110 languages. If you can't find
your language in the list when you search for a language partner, just contact us and we'll add it.
How do I find a language partner? [Back to top]
On our search page, just choose the language you want to practise, and
we'll show you a list of people who speak that language, and who want to
practise your language.
How do I contact a language partner? [Back to top]
If you're a level 2 member, you can send email messages to other members. We'll tell them that
there's a message waiting for them and then they can reply to you. When you're ready, and if you
want to, you can arrange to chat to your partners through Skype.
What's Skype? [Back to top]
Skype is a piece of software that allows you to call people all over the world from your computer
for free. It's like an internet telephone! If you want to chat to your language exchange partner with Skype, you'll need to
download it. You can get more information about Skype
here.
How do I keep track of all my language partners? [Back to top]
When you find a language partner, you can save their details on your language exchange homepage.
Every time you sign in, you'll see your saved partners there. On your homepage, you can also send
email to other members and read email that other members have sent you.
Is it free? [Back to top]
There are two levels of membership. With level 1, you can add information about
yourself and add a photo. Other members can contact you. Level 1 membership is free!
With level 2, you can contact
other members. Level 2 membership is only £5 for one year.
