British summer school (Malvern, Worcs)
Residential and non-residential positions available
Professional support provided
Contracts vary from two to thirteen weeks between 12-06-06 and 10-09-06
Situated in the beautiful Malvern Hills, the Abbey College runs a three month long Summer School for adults, teens and children. Students receive morning English lessons, followed by afternoon and evening activities conducted on our eighty acre campus. There are two excursions per week.
The Abbey College has a number of posts available for this period.
-EFL Teachers would be asked to teach five mornings a week (9am – 1pm), either supervise planned activities or teach private students in the afternoon and escort the students on excursions. As with any summer school the work can be demanding, but you would be working as part of a close team, in an excellent environment. You will be working with an ADOS and Senior Teacher on hand to help with planning and professional issues. A guideline syllabus is used throughout the course, and we have plenty of teacher resources. Residential posts are available
-The Director of Studies is required to provide professional support, conduct observations, provide feedback and action plans. The role would involve half a teaching timetable. The successful candidate must be Diploma qualified, or equivalent, and would be expected to work the duration of the Summer School.
-The Assistant Director of Studies is required to complete all the administration for the department including allocating students to appropriate groups. This role would involve teaching half a timetable. The successful applicant will have previous Summer School experience and a valid TEFL qualification as well as excellent organizational skills.
-The Excursion Manager would promote and organize excursions/ travel arrangements for the college and teach half a timetable. This person would receive commission on top of their weekly salary
Qualifications:
To be considered for the post of EFL teacher you must have a minimum CELTA/TESOL certificate or equivalent. Contracts ranging from 2 to 13 weeks are available.
The Director of Studies must be Diploma qualified and have Summer School experience
The Excursion Manager should be CELTA/TESOL qualified, well organized and have an outgoing personality
All candidates should enjoy working closely with others, be enthusiastic, and like working with children and teenagers. If teachers are currently working abroad, telephone interviews can be arranged.
