Experience teaching children is preferable, but not essential. If you think you have the right skills, a teaching certificate, a Degree and you would like to teach in the beautiful city of Ayutthaya, please contact Charles at: zenith_ayutthaya@yahoo.co.uk and I will be happy to answer all your questions.
The city of Ayutthaya
Ayutthaya is a small city 90 minutes north of Bangkok. The central part of the city is actually an island surrounded by two rivers and a canal. It is far enough from Bangkok not to be a suburb, but close enough for escapism. The city used to be the capital hundreds of years ago so it's rife with ruins and historical sights. It is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ayutthaya is centrally located within the country so it's easy to jump north to the mountains or south to the beaches for holidays. There is a small community of expats living here as well as a small, unobtrusive tourism scene so western food and second-hand books are close at hand. Additionally, Ayutthaya is home to a few clubs, restaurants by the river and bars catering to the local population. For more information about Ayutthaya, check out travel guides such as Lonely Planet and Rough Guide.
Accommodation:
There are a few kinds of accommodation in Ayutthaya, the first is one-room apartments which are the most popular in Ayutthaya. They are very basic but can be made nice. They have a bed, closet and bathroom and some have small balconies. These range in price from 2,500 baht for fan rooms to 3,000 baht for air con rooms. Bills are all paid separate each month with electric at 5 baht per unit and a standard charge for water at around 100 baht per month.
The next kind is a town house; these can range in price from 3,000 baht to 4,000 baht per month. Most of town houses are unfurnished but you might come across one with some in, but not very often. The bills are government bills sent to the house so these should be slightly cheaper than in an apartment. We always help the teacher in finding accommodation but this only initials driving around Ayutthaya and looking for places available.
