English Program in Korea (EPIK)
EPIK is an umbrella organization with a mandate from the Korean Ministry of Education to help promote and organize ESL classes at education boards nationwide. Successful applicants will be required to conduct English conversation classes for Korean primary and secondary school students as part of the Korean government's aim to promote and strengthen English language education. A candidate should have a strong sense of creativity and motivation as well as enjoyment working with young children as part of an academic team. Successful applicants are expected to focus on the development of oral communication skills using interactive teaching methods.

Duties and Placement
The duties are carried out under the guidance of the district supervisor. The responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting English classes in cooperation with Korean homeroom or English language teachers
- Preparing teaching materials and activities for English language education
- Assisting with the development of teaching materials related to English language education
- Assisting with activities related to English language education and other extracurricular activities (Judge English speech contestants, voice record for English listening comprehension tests, conduct English conversational classes in the English camp, etc.)

PLACEMENT:
Various Locations nationwide: From pristine countryside to modern sub-urban sprawls and metropolis.
EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: One Year SY 2008-2009
COMMENCEMENT: Summer, and Fall

QUALIFICATION LEVEL AND PAY SCALE:
Pursuant to Korean Ministry of Education Standards

***METROPOLITAN Boards such as Seoul, Incheon, Daejeon, Busan, Daegu, Ulsan, Gwangju DON'T PROVIDE MONTHLY provincial & county ALLOWANCES
** GEPIK (Gyeongi-do English Program) certain school districts in Gyeongi may only provides the basic GET Pay

LEVEL 1++:
Metropolitan Boards: $2,700= 2.8 million KRW
Provincial Board: $3,000-$3,200 = 2.9-3.1 million KRW
GET Level 1+ plus a total of 3 consecutive teaching years at the same Education Board

LEVEL 1+:
Metropolitan Boards: $2,600= 2.5 million KRW
Provincial Board: $2,700-$3,000 = 2.6-2.9 million KRW
Two consecutive years as a Level 1 within the same Education Board

LEVEL 1:
Metropolitan Boards: $2,400= 2.3 million KRW
Provincial Board: $2,500-$2,800 = 2.4-2.7million KRW
2 years of teaching experience with one of the following:
Master's degree
Teacher's/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA(100+hrs) Certificate
Major in Education, English Education or English
Language/Literature
Contract renewal as a Level 2+ at the same POE

LEVEL 2+:
Metropolitan Boards: $2,200= 2.1 million KRW
Provincial Board $2,300-$2,600 = 2.2-2.5 million KRW
Master's degree in any discipline, with Bachelor's in Education,
English Education or English Language/Literature
Master's degree in Education, English Education or
English Language/Literature, with Bachelor's in any discipline
Contract renewal as a Level 2 at the same Education Board

LEVEL 2:
Metropolitan Boards: $2,100= 2.0 million KRW
Provincial Board: $2,200-$2,500 = 2.1-2.4 million KRW
MUST HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
Teacher's/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA (100+hrs) Certificate
Major in Education, English Education or English Language/Literature
Bachelor's degree plus 1 yr full-time teaching experience
Master's degree in any discipline

LEVEL 3:
Metropolitan Boards: $1,900= 1.8 Million KRW
Provincial $21200-$2,400 = 2.0-2.3 million KRW
Entry Level Bachelor's degree in any discipline

INSIDER'S TIPS: EARNING MORE FOR LESS WORK!

- Original Degrees Or Korean Notarized Copies (multiple copies might be required)
- Two Original Sealed transcripts:
* 1 sealed transcript sent directly from the university to the Education Board or a transcript
legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in your home country with an Apostille number & stamp
* 1 sealed transcript to take with you to the Korean Consulate/Embassy when you apply for the E2 visa.
- Criminal Record Check/Police Clearance (Issued by a law enforcement agency in your permanent place o residence)
- Passport Photo Page
- (If applicable) Copies of certification (teacher certificate, TESOL, etc)
- (If applicable) Proof of teaching/work experience (for details, refer to FAQ)
- Copy of citizenship or a copy of legal residence certificate (for Korean nationals)
- Official EPIK application form, personal essay form, and personal medical assessment form are through email

B. Application Deadline:
We accept resumes on a rolling basis and make quick placements that affords you to begin teaching in South Korea whenever you are available.

IMPORTANT:
At this point, scanned and emailed documents suffice. We understand that it is pretty common for most HR Firms in Korea to require applicants to submit originals. However, we implore applicants to exercise extreme caution since originals are extremely sensitive papers which are only necessary in processing a teaching visa. Original documents are never required by employers both at the public and private sector during the application process.
