job details

We are a reputable recruiting agency run by foreigners who have taught in Korea before. We have the knowledge & experience to find you the job YOU want. We currently have jobs all around Korea, offering FREE flights, FREE, FURNISHED apartments and great salaries. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Eslstarter was founded by a husband and wife team of former TEFL teachers. Their expansive teaching journey has comprised destinations from Yemen to Taiwan and Malaysia to South Korea with a host of other countries along the way.

The experience they accumulated from teaching English around the world has helped them gain a thorough understanding of what it is to be both a teacher and employer in the TEFL industry. It is the purpose of eslstarter to use our knowledge to help make transitions abroad rewarding for teachers and finding those great teachers easy for schools.

Please do not hesitate to contact us, even if you would just like some more information. We DON'T CHARGE YOU anything for our services, so you have nothing to lose. Looking forward to hearing from you!

If you are certain that you would like to apply, please make 100% sure that you qualify (see below) and email me (Hayley) at teachinsk@yahoo.co.uk with your resume; a smiling, color photo and the answers to these questions, and I will get back to you as soon as possible!

You can email us on info@eslstarter.com for more information on this.

Will the school sponsor my visa?

Yes, the school will sponsor you throughout the duration of your contract in Korea. They are responsible for registering your details with immigration.

How long does the application process take?

From sending off your documents, it usually takes no more than 2 weeks to get the visa number. Once this number is ready, the visa needs to be finalised at your local Korean Embassy. This usually takes around 5 days. Therefore, the process usually takes around 3 weeks from start to finish.

Why use Eslstarter?

Eslstarter offers a dedicated service that is based on years of experience placing native English speakers into teaching positions in South Korea. We understand that it is not always easy living and working in a country far away from home, and hope to make your transition to Korea as smooth as possible. We offer support every step of the way, from finding the right position, to booking flights, getting your visa, arriving in Korea, settling into your new environment and, most importantly, enjoying your time in Asia!

Do I need any vaccinations for Korea?

The following immunizations are recommended for South Korea; Measles, Hepititus A, Hepitius B, Typhoid. Although these vaccinations are recommended, Korea is a well developed country with very high standards of health care comparable to those of the West.

What should I take?

You can buy practically anything you get at home in Korea. There are four distinct seasons so it's worth remembering to bring both summer and winter clothing.

Will the school reimburse my airfare?

Different schools have different policies when it comes to airfare. Some prefer to reimburse the teacher upon arrival in Korea, but most are happy to prepay flights from the teacher's home country. A compromise can usually be reached on this matter. The school will also pay for your flight back to your home country on completion of your 1 year contract.

What is the housing like?

The housing is of a high standard. Teachers are provided with private, furnished apartments, usually very close to the school. The accommodation includes TV (most with cable), washing machine, cooking facilities and utensils, shower, underfloor heating, aircon and queen size beds plus bedding. Internet access can also be provided at the teacher's request.

Is Korea a safe country?

South Korea is one of the safest countries in the world to visit. Street crime, assualt and theft are almost unheard of. For more information and travel advice on Korea, please visit www.fco.gov.uk/travel

Do I need a TEFL certificate?

A TEFL certificate is an advantage but not a necessity. It is perfectly acceptable to apply for a position without a TEFL certificate.

Can I bring my spouse / children?

Yes. Eslstarter will help you arranging a visa for your spouse and/or children if you so require.

TEACHER TESTIMONIALS:

"I found eslstarter more than helpful when looking for a job in Korea to teach English. From the first email I sent, to my arrival in South Korea they were informative, punctual and supportive. They found me a position which I am more than pleased with and I have been at the school 6 months now and everything is great. I would recommend eslstarter to anybody looking for a job in Korea!"

Alex Farnish, Suwon

"Claire and Phil placed me at a wonderful little school in Korea. Throughout the contract negotiations, they were attentive to all of my concerns. They responded quickly to every question I had, making sure that I would be comfortable at the school, and well compensated. Although they placed me at my current job many months ago, I still feel that I could go to them with any problem that might arise. They are a kind, experienced, and professional team, and I am wholeheartedly grateful for their guidance into the otherwise tricky Korean job market."

Katy Benedetto, Pyeongcheon

"Like many travelling to Korea to teach I was apprehensive about what awaited me, both in terms of the job and general lifestyle. However, following conversations and emails with Claire and Phil, my fears were allayed and I came here confident and excited. It was also reassuring to know that they had first hand experience of Korea. My time here has been fulfilling and enjoyable, and this is in no small part due to their help and advice."

Dan Steel, Pyeongcheon

"The service provided by this company I found very knowledgeable, and accurate. Furthermore, I found that all my expectations were reached and surpassed, as pertinent information was passed on accurately and in a timely matter, that made me feel reassured and confident with my decision from start to finish."
