Job details

Established in 1991, ARTOS Language School is a large organization focusing on meeting the needs
of the local community by offering language instruction to children and adults through General English, Business English or ESP courses. Aiming to develop learners communicative ability, we also prepare them
for external language exams, like Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE, and most recently for TOEIC, since we are now ETS Authorised Examination Centre.
Providing excellent language courses to individual and to corporate clients,
we seek ESL professionals with a flair for teaching, dynamic personality and creative attitude to their work.
In comparison with most language schools, we can offer a longer contract with excellent training and development opportunities. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that Olsztyn is considered one of the most attractive places to settle down and live in Poland.

The description of trends in language education in Olsztyn

Except for General English at the forefront and Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE qualifications invariably sought after mainly by teenagers and young adults, there is an ever growing interest in Business English, due partly to recent accession of Poland to the EU. Junior courses for nine or ten-year-olds are also in demand and there are sporadic attempts at catering for the needs of young children, even from under one year of age, although, at present, this could be placed at the lower end of the market.

One feature that all customers have in common is the trend to learn slowly over long periods of time reconciling the demands of public school education, studies or employment with those of language study. For this reason, our school offers part-time courses consisting of about 64 lessons per semester, with afternoon or evening classes usually twice a week on working days, or only at the weekend. Most customers continue their education after the first semester, sometimes over the next few years. Thus, attracting long-standing customers and keeping them satisfied without losing any is vital for any language business.

A separate group of customers are business organisations and public institutions who take advantage of their buying power through enforcing tendering. Although more and more corporate customers are learning languages, the vast majority of language learners are individuals who pay for the service themselves.
With respect to different languages taught, the supremacy of English seems unchallenged and so it is popularly regarded as the first foreign language to be mastered. German always comes second and it is followed by Russian (which again seems to be coming to prominence), French, Spanish, and Italian.

The school employment policy

The sense of stability created by the most prestigious language school in town is only matched by the permanent professional teaching staff who have agreed to provide ARTOS with language teaching services on an exclusive basis. This condition of exclusiveness is one source of the school’s strength and the teachers’ job satisfaction. The luxury of focusing entirely on meticulous lesson preparation which includes production of learner-needs-oriented materials is virtually unknown to other language teachers who normally have to juggle several jobs and who usually work part-time for other language schools.
For this reason our school policy which ensures teacher commitment and full identification with its objectives acts as a safeguard against poor performance; the teachers themselves face the risks ARTOS does, as their pay is mostly based on performance. All in all, nothing can be compared to the comfort of working with dedicated staff of highly motivated teachers who find ARTOS a perfect environment for growth and professional development. Therefore, selection of the best candidates is of crucial importance to subsequent successful co-operation; ARTOS is definitely a perfect place for excellent teachers committed to their work, who enjoy taking on exciting new challenges.
