I am reading a small list of "irregular verbs." On this list is the word "bring." For present tense, "bring." Past "brought." and Past participle, "brought."

Would it not be correct to use "bring" in the present participle, "bringing"--adding -ing?

Same goes for the word, "drink"--adding the -ing.

How would I explain this if a student asks why I didn't add -ing?

I feel confused on one hand, and maybe a bit embarrassed on the other. I'm looking at a list of "irregular verbs" and "bring" in the present is not listed as a -ing" in the present particple.

I think I'm confused because it is listed as an "irregular" verb, when perhaps its not.

Isn't "bringing" a PRESENT participle and "brought" a PAST participle?

"Bringing" can be used as past participle. e.g I was bringing a villager to city.

"Bringing" can be used as past participle. e.g I was bringing a villager to city.

"Bringing" is still the present participle here, it is just being used with a past meaning (as part of the past progressive)
