International House Bangkok is an approved centre for the prestigious Cambridge teacher training CELTA qualification, the original “TEFL” course. Previously known as the CTEFLA, the CELTA is today offered at over 280 centres in 50 countries worldwide, and is taken by a total of 10,000 trainees each year.

The Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA)

When the Director of Studies at your first teaching interview asks, “Have you got a CELTA?” you’ll realize just how important it was to choose the profession’s most accepted initial teacher training qualification.

The CELTA course at IH Bangkok is an intensive, 4-week course intended for those who wish to enter the ELT profession but who have little or no previous teaching experience, or for teachers with some prior experience but no formal qualification in this field. Highly practical, with a content that is known and accepted throughout the industry, the CELTA course equips its trainees with the teaching skills to teach adults in a variety of teaching contexts.

The CELTA course includes teaching practice, observation of experienced teachers, and completion of a range of practically focused written assignments. The CELTA is awarded to candidates on successful completion of the course and assessment. There are no end of course exams; the pass grades A, B, and Pass being awarded as a result of continuous assessment by our trainers.
