Entry requirements	Standard/updated CELTA requirements can be found on the Cambridge University ESOL website. Candidate complete a pre-course assignment, as well as an interview, which can be completed telephonically.

Means of assessment	All classes are observed, and noted by DELTA qualified CELTA trainers, who are highly qualified and experienced TEFL teachers, and teacher trainers, as well as the other candidates. Continual assessment includes assignments and lesson preparation, as well lesson feedback. An external moderator also assesses the course on behalf of Cambridge University ESOL, and grades and paperwork are then sent to Cambridge for final approval.

Course content / syllabus

The course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).

The course has a strong focus on methodology, which allows the candidates to migrate easily from being a student to being the teacher, as they are able to gain invaluable classroom experience in a REAL language school.

Candidates teach real classes from their first week, and observe the other candidates teaching, which develops an appreciation of how to apply the theory of teaching in real situations in the classroom.

The Cambridge CELTA is the most internationally recognised TEFL qualification.
