Teachers' advice > Kenya
"Just returned from a trip to Watamu, North East Coast which included a chance
to teach 15 year olds for a couple of lessons voluntary. What fantastically
enthusiastic youngsters! Such a joy! Still with a 12 hour day from 6am to 6pm
(teachers start 5.30 am), only a bit of chalk, a blackboard and a rubber with a
class of 109 students - you better love the job! If you get the chance grab it,
and email me to tell me how you got a work permit!

The Rough Guide to Kenya
Plenty of detail on the mainstream stuff (where to stay and eat in Nairobi, how
to organise a safari in the Masai Mara), but plenty also on the areas off the
beaten track. Best of all, the book is unfailingly relevant, avoiding the usual
pages of filler or the blindingly obvious. The wealth of background information
and the dry, witty style are welcome bonuses.
