Teachers' advice > Belarus
"I was a Fulbright Lecturer for seven months in Minsk, Belarus. I have never had students/teachers
who were so respectful, so eager to learn English. Sometimes I would present to a group of a
hundred or more, and I wouldn't hear a single cell phone ring, or a teenager texting.
If you have a chance to teach in Belarus (and don't need much money), take it. The people are
wonderful. It's much safer than Russia or Ukraine. The weather can be a downer, and the
political/bureaucratic side can be mysterious. My program was terminated mid-year due to
squabbling between the U.S. and Belarusian governments.
Some songs in English recorded by young Belarusian kids are available on my teaching site
English Teachers Everywhere (www.etseverywhere.com)"
