A CELTA or equivalent will improve employment prospects, but 1-3 years experience can be enough to secure a job without a qualification.
Teachers often arrive in Armenia on a tourist visa. The language school will then arrange a work permit or residency card.
Most work is in Yerevan, with some work also in smaller cities such as Spitak and Gyumri. Contact schools directly to enquire about work.
August to October and January to March.
Language schools typically pay teachers by the hour, which can be anything from 2000AMD (about 5 USD) to 3500 AMD (about 9 USD). Classes are mostly in the late afternoon. Saturday is considered a working day.
There are opportunities for teaching privately, with a big demand for native English speakers.
